Almost half term :)

Well what a super half term we've had in Year 1. We've learnt about China, light and dark, poetry, how to use a dictionary and much much more. I'm so proud of the progress that each and every child is making. Keep up the hard work guys!

This week Year 1 will be making their own fruit milkshakes, yoghurt and fruit salad as part of their 'eat more fruit and veg' unit in design and technology. I can't wait to have a taste of our creations.

Have a very happy half term from Friday and check back soon to see what we are up to when we come back after the break.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Happy Lunar (Chinese) New Year!!

Today Year 1, Reception and Year 2 had a fantastic day celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year!
We spent the day making beautiful dragon puppets and lanterns. We even had a go at doing our own Chinese writing.

The highlight of today was visiting the Chinese restaurant, Mr Fu's. We all had a fantastic time trying out new foods, eating with chopsticks and reading our fortunes from inside the fortune cookies. Everyone who went had a fantastic time. A big thank you to all the staff at Mr Fu's for such a fabulous experience.

Hear's to the year of the dragon, we hope it's a good one!

A nativity with a twist...

This week, on Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are putting on their Christmas performance, 'Jesus' Christmas Party'.

It is a funny story told from the Innkeeper's point of view. All the children have an active role in the production making it a magical experience for all relatives coming to watch.

Those of you who come to watch, we hope you really enjoy it...I'm sure you will (Bring tissues).

:)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all children and staff in Year 1.

Explosive poetry!!

Our poetry display bordered by our own marbled firework pictures.

All of the poems were fantastic but I chose a handful of my favourites to display in the classroom...
